DAY 1 Arrive in Milan

DAY 2 Milan – Soragna – Parma
In the morning, enjoy a walking tour of Milan with a Local Guide. Start with a visit to the Sforza Castle grounds and its museum. Then, vou’ll visit Milan’s Piazza Duomo. There you’ll see its magnificent gothic cathedral, the glass-domed Galleria, and admire the famous La Scala Opera House. The tour then leaves Milan to Parma. Along the way there is a stop at Busseto to see Giuseppe Verdi’s birthplace, and on your way to Parma, world-famous for its ham and parmesan cheese, stop for a Parmigiano Reggiano tasting at a local caseificio. Later, for food lovers, an optional excursion is available.
DAY 3 Parma
This morning, your guided sightseeing tour of Parma will focus on the romanesque cathedral, the bell tower and the octagonal baptistry made of pink Verona marble. Next, enjoy a BALSAMIC VINEGAR TASTING near Modena, and learn all about this typical Italian product. DAY 4 Parma – Lucca
Today you’ll travel from Parma in the Emilia Romagna region to Lucca, located in Tuscany. In Lucca you’ll enjoy a walk through this quaint medieval town with its ramparts, and spend time in its pretty center. To enhance your stay, an optional dinner outing to an agriturismo is available to try out Tuscan specialties. (Breakfast)
DAY 5 Lucca – Cinque Terre – Rapallo
From Lucca you’ll drive up the Tuscany’s Mediterranean coast to the region of Liguria. There you’ll begin your exciting excursion to Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including a boat ride (weather permitting) with a Local Guide. The name dates back to the 15th century and is derived from five medieval little villages standing on stony spurs along five miles of the rocky coastline: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso. After visiting the Cinque Terre you’ll travel by train up the Ligurian coast to the beautiful seaside resort of Rapallo. (Breakfast)
DAY 6 Rapallo – Excursion to Portofino
Today’s highlight is a boat ride (weather permitting) on the Mediterranean Sea to nearby Portofino, a small fishing village with brightly colored houses that became home to the “rich and famous.” Later, back in Rapallo there is time to relax and to browse through the attractive little shops. DAY 7 Rapallo – Gabiano – Turin
Enter the Langhe area and drive through the vineyards to Gabiano, where you’ll enjoy a wine tasting followed by lunch at Castello di Gabiano. After the northern Italy with Cinque Terre tour continues to Turin, capital of Piedmont and birthplace of the Fiat automobile. This evening you may wish to try out one of Turin’s restaurants. DAY 8 Turin
