Day 5 Tuscan Dinner at Villa Machiavelli

A scenic drive into the Chianti hills, past vineyards, brings us to a delightful hamlet overlooked by an imposing castle. Our destination is the ancient stone house of Machiavelli, where the great political theorist wrote his immortal work, ‘The Prince’. After a welcome drink and visit of the villa and its
wine-cellars, we’ll enjoy the best of Tuscan cuisine accompanied by great music and drinks, including of course, Chianti from the Villa’s own vines. This is the essence of all great things Tuscan, past and present, condensed into one memorable evening!

The Italy tour Rome Florence Venice itinerary includes 3 nights in each of Italy’s big 3 cities. This is a leisurely paced Italy tour. There is plenty of time for strolling and exploring.

Your journey through Italy starts in Rome where you’ll visit the Vatican Museum to see one of the biggest and most valuable art collections in the world. The Vatican Tour also includes the Sistine Chapel.

After 3 nights in Rome it’s off to Florence.  On the way to Florence you’ll stop along the way in Assisi to see Giotto’s frescoes in the St Francis’ Basilica. You will also visit Santa Maria Degli Angeli, Saint Mary of the Angels. Then the tour continues on to Florence where you will stay for 3 nights. In Florence sightseeing highlights a walking tour of Florence, the birth place of the Renaissance.  We’ll walk Florence’s highlights including Piazza Signoria to see the various sculptures by the masters, and then on to Brunelleschi’s masterpiece Florence’s Duomo, and Ghiberti’s masterpiece the Baptistry’s Bronze Doors. Day 3 – ROME SIGHTSEEING

Drive north to the mystical town of Assisi on the slopes of Mount Subasio. Your Local Guide shows you all the sights. Visit St. Francis’ Basilica and see Giotto’s enchanting frescoes. Visit the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, which stands on the site where St. Francis died. Arrive later in Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance.

Day 6 – FLORENCE SIGHTSEEING

Enjoy a leisurely encounter with the artistic and architectural marvels of Florence during your walking tour with a Local Specialist.

First visit the Piazza della Signoria, famous for its outdoor larger than life sculptures. Then you’ll be guided through the charming cobblestone lanes to Florence’s Duomo and Baptistery. Afterward, you’ll stroll the Ponte Vecchio, the old bridge over the Arno River, famous for its goldsmith shops. Aling the way you’ll learn about the quality and workmanship of two of this city’s historic industries at demonstrations of Florentine leathercraft and 18-carat gold.

In the Square of Miracles, home to some of the city’s most famous sights, see the incredible Leaning Tower and the beautifully sculpted marble Cathedral. See the Baptistery and the cemetery, built on soil brought from Calvary in the Holy Land. Spend free time shopping for souvenirs in Florence, renowned for high quality leather and 18-carat gold jewellery.
