Day 1 – DEPART USA
Today depart for your overnight flight to Rome.
Day 2 – ARRIVE ROME (2 NIGHTS)
Upon arrival in Rome transfer to your hotel and check-in. Meet your tour director and enjoy your first day in Rome at leisure. Stroll around the Rome’s ancient cobble-stoned streets. This evening enjoy a local trattoria. We have Rome sightseeing maps with restaurant suggestions on this website.
Day 3 – ROME SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
Today you will go on a walking tour of Rome. The tour begins at St. Peter’s Basilica. This is the largest church in the world. Its interior is full of priceless art, including sculpture by Bernini and Michelangelo’s famous Pieta. Then you’ll travel from the Vatican to the Ancient Roman Forum and Colosseum. There you have free time to explore this center of the Roman Empire on your own. You may arrange an optional tour of the Catacombs or Colosseum.
Day 4 – ROME – BAY OF NAPLES (2 NIGHTS)
Today you’ll wake up in Rome and travel to Southern Italy to you hotel. Along the way you’ll pass Monte Cassino Abbey, which is the location where St Benedict started his monastery. After you arrive at your hotel you’ll have time this afternoon to explore the area. We can arrange an optional tour to Positano and the Amalfi Coast.

Day 5 – SORRENTO EXCURSION
Today you’ll visit the southern Italian resort town Sorrento. Here you’ll see a demonstration of the inlaid wood artisans work their craft. After you may join an optional tour of Pompeii. This site was the ancient Roman urban center. The ancient city included theaters, temples, storefronts, and villas. It was buried by the ash from Mt Vesuvius’ volcanic eruption in 79AD. Today you make walk among the ruins and imagine life in ancient Roman times.

Day 6 – BAY OF NAPLES – ASSISI
Today begins with a trip from the southern Italian region Campania to the central Italian region Umbria. Umbria is often called “Italy’s green heart” because of its green rolling hills. There you’ll visit Assisi. There you’ll enjoy a tour of the Basilica of St Francis and be introduced to Giotto’s famous and very important frescoes that depict St. Francis’ life.

Day 7- ASSISI – ORIAGO (VENICE) (2 NIGHTS)

Day 8 – VENICE ORIENTATION AND FREE TIME
This morning you will travel into Venice. Upon arrival you will hop on a private water launch. Cruise down the Grand Canal to St. Mark’s Square. The Venice sightseeing highlights including the Bridge of Sighs, the ornate Doge’s Palace and the Basilica of St. Mark are all there. Enjoy a stroll around Venice. You’ll find the local Venetian craftsmen working. You’ll also visit a glass-blowing workshop on Giudecca island. Explore the city during your free time or maybe take a trip to Burano Island in the lagoon for a fresh seafood meal.
Day 9 – ORIAGO – VERONA – LUGANO – ITALIAN LAKES (2 NIGHTS)
This morning we’ll travel from Venice to Verona. Made famous by the balconey in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this is an off-the-beaten path beautiful northern Italian city. Ancient Roman ruins dot the city’s landscape. From Venice the tour continues to the Lugano in Switzerland. This lakeside resort is famous for its gorgeous views of the lake with the Alps backdrop.

Day 10 – ITALIAN LAKES FREE DAY
Today you have a full free day in Saronno in the beautiful Lombardy region. Enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Italian Lakes region.
