DAY 1 – Depart for Italy

This morning you’ll arrive in Rome. Known as the “Eternal City” because of long and important history. After check-in to your hotel get out and stroll around. This evening you’ll you’re your tour director and fellow travelers at the welcome reception, which includes dinner with wine.

DAY 3 – Vatican Tour
This morning you’ll visit Vatican City to tour the Vatican Museum. A local expert guide will escort you through the massive collection of priceless art and artifacts. The Vatican Museum tour ends in the Sistine Chapel where you’ll see Michelangelo’s famous ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. The tour also includes the Bramante Staircase, a part of the Vatican closed to the public. Then you have free time to explore Rome independently. DAY 5 – Visit Capri
This morning you’ll travel by high-speed ferry across the Bay of Naples to reach the Isle of Capri. Jutting straight out of the Mediterranean Sea, the beauty of this rock island has attracted tourists for over 2,000 years. From Ancient Roman Emperors to modern day superstars. Upon arriving you’ll take the funicular to the main piazza. You’ll have time to browse the boutiques full of Made in Italy fashions and designs. DAY 7 – Travel from Campania to Umbria and town of Orvieto
Today your trip through Italy travels north from Sorrento to Orvieto. This town located atop a rock pedestal overlooking a vineyard covered plain is located in the region of Umbria, known as Italy’s green heart and known for its culinary tradition. Upon arrival, you’ll be introduced to this classic Italian medieval town. This evening you’ll be introduced to Umbrian cooking and its local ingredients at a live cooking demonstration, followed by dinner accompanies by local Orvieto wine.

DAY 8 – Umbria Sightseeing: Assisi and Perugia
This morning the tour starts later than normal to provide a relaxed start. The day’s itinerary includes a visit to Assisi, the peaceful Umbrian town where St. Francis lived and died. The tour includes a visit to St. Mary of the Angels Church, where under the dome is a small medieval chapel and the spot where St. Francis died. Then the tour continues up the hill to the basilica. DAY 10 – Umbria to Tuscany: Siena and Chianti

There a local art historian will guide you through Siena’s streets to the circular Piazza del Campo. There you’ll learn about its town hall and tower before ascending to the hill top cathedral decorated with stripes of black and white marble. This morning you’ll travel from the Chianti region to Florence, Tuscany’s capital city where the Renaissance was born. There you’ll tour the historic center. There you’ll be accompanied by a local tour guide to visit Lucca’s churches, squares and palaces perfectly preserved within encircling medieval ramparts.
