DAY 1 – Depart USA

Depart the USA for Italy. Your flight includes meals, drinks and in-flight entertainment

DAY 2 – Arrive in Venice

Arrive and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. This evening, enjoy an orientation meeting with your tour escort, followed by a welcome dinner

DAY 3 – Venice City Tour

Today includes a glass blowing demonstration. Venice is known for its glass artisians, which history dates back centuries. The day also includes a walking tour of the center of Venice. You’ll St. Mark’s Square, Basilica of San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge’s Palace, whose facade features a massive late-Gothic gate, known as the Porta della Carta.

Take the remainder of the day to explore Venice on your own. You may also consider joining an optional Gondola ride.

DAY 4 – Pisa Sightseeing En Route to Florence

Travel through the stunning panorama of Tuscany to Pisa. On arrival, view the famous Piazza del Miracoli with its Leaning Tower, the Baptistery, the Duomo, and the Monumental Cemetery. The four monuments of this extraordinary piazza make for a unique architectural blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles.

Afterward continue to Florence. This evening at leisure. You also join an optional Florentine dinner.

DAY 5 – Florence City Tour and Assisi

Today you will visit the Accademia Museum to see Michelangelo’s David. Afterward enjoy a walking tour to the Duomo, celebrated for its magnificent dome designed by Brunelleschi, and view the Baptistery’s renowned “Gates of Paradise” by Ghiberti.

Afterward the tour continues to Assisi. Upon arrival enjoy this peaceful town in its quiet evening. Dinner is included this evening.

DAY 6 – Assisi to Rome

DAY 7 – Rome Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s Basilica, and Colosseum

Today is a full sightseeing day in Rome! You’ll see Rome’s most famous highlights.

Stand in awe and wonder amid one of mankind’s greatest artistic achievements in the Sistine Chapel. Hear how in 1508, a young Michelangelo was commissioned by Pope Julius II to decorate the chapel’s ceiling – a request not welcomed by the 33-year-old sculptor. Michelangelo’s 4-year project was indeed one of physical pain and psychological distress, while painting from scaffolds high above the sanctuary floor. Nevertheless, he created what is considered the most famous ceiling in the world, depicting the Creation of Adam in striking fresco style.

This afternoon is at leisure. You may also decide to join an optional tour of Rome’s Piazzas.

DAY 8 – Rome to Pompeii and then Sorrento

This morning the tour continues to Southern Italy. The first stop is Pompeii. There you’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of th ancient site.

The fascinating archaeological site of Pompeii is a treasured glimpse into Roman life near the Bay of Naples. This once thriving and sophisticated Roman city was consumed by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., with its residents and structures buried beneath inescapable ash and stone. See the preserved site of excavated ruins that reveal remarkable frescoes, artwork, and artifacts within its streets and dwellings of the people who perished here.

Afterward continue on to Sorrento. This evening is at leisure. You may also join an optional Neapolitan dinner experience.
