DAY 1- Depart the United States
This guided Italy vacation begins in Rome. Fly overnight from the United States arriving the following morning.
Day 2 – Benvenuti a Roma
Welcome to Rome! At 5 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions, and leave the hotel for a special welcome dinner with wine at Ambasciata di Capri restaurant.
DAY 3 – Rome
Today’s guided tours include both of Rome’s religious and ancient sightseeing highlights. Begin by touring Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. All three buildings are architectural masterpieces. The frescoes that adorn the walls and ceilings were created by history’s great artistic masters. This afternoon you have free time to stroll Rome’s ancient streets. You may also join an optional walking tour of Rome’s Ancient, Baroque, and Renaissance piazzas including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Piazza Navona.
DAY 4 – Rome–Florence
This morning you’ll tour the ancient Roman Forum and Colosseum. This area was the center of ancient Roman life. After the guided tours the tour heads to Florence. Along the way you’ll pass through Umbria, known as Italy’s “green heart,” and Tuscany. Upon arrival in Florence you’ll have free time to stroll around and enjoy a the famous Tuscan food.
DAY 5 – Florence
Today your Florence walking tour includes visiting the Accademia Museum. Here you will see Michelangelo’s David sculpture. The tour then continues through Florence’s Renaissance streets to its center. There you’ll view the Duomo, the Bell Tower, and the Baptistry. This tri-fecta of high public art is unmatched. Then your tour continues to Signoria Square and to the famous bridge across the Arno, the Ponte Vecchio. Here you may shop for Florentine leather goods and gold jewelry. This afternoon is your chance to join an optional excursion to the picturesque town of San Gimignano set in Tuscany’s famous hills. Some call it the “Manhattan of Tuscany” because of its Medieval towers. These towers were built rival families to demonstrate their power and wealth. Eventually the government’s tower became the highest. It was promptly sacked. This evening you’ll enjoy an included dinner with Tuscan specialties and wine at a local trattoria.
DAY 6 – Florence–Venice Island
Today you’ll drive through Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and Veneto to Venice. Upon arrival in Venice you’ll make a grand entrance with a Grand Canal tour. The architecture and charming setting makes Venice popular among just about everyone. Your Grand Canal tour with drop you at St Mark’s Square. There enjoy a walking tour of the famous buildings including St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. Then you’ll visit a local glass blowing studio to see how the Venetian artisans practice their craft.
DAY 7 – Venice Island
Today is a free day to enjoy Venice. Be sure to get lsot, with a map, in the narror streets. Cross the Rialto Bridge. This evening join us for an included drink at Cafe Florian. You’ll be entertained by local musicians. This evening you may join an optional cruise and authentic Venetian dinner. Cruise to islands of Santa Elena, San Michele and the famous Lido. The Venice lagoon cruise tour ends in Burano. Here you’ll have a Venetian dinner, with local wine and prosecco all included. After dinner you have time to stroll around. Visit the local lace making artisans studios set among the colorful houses.
DAY 8 – Venice Island
Your Venice, Florence, Rome, guided vacation ends with breakfast this morning. You’ll depart with many fond memories of your trip through Italy.
