Tour 1. Perugia by ‘Minimetro’ + Afternoon in Authentic Umbria Touwn:

Start your day in Perugia. Travel up to Perugia on the completely automatic transit system designed by well-known architect Jean Nouvel.  Stroll freely around the city and admire its beauty.  (Points of interest include the Galleria Nazionale, Sala dei Notari, Nobile Collegio del Cambio and Rocca Paolina). Mid – morning refreshment.

Lunch at the beautiful Castello di Monterone just outside the ancient city gates of Perugia.

After lunch at the Lunch at the beautiful Castello di Monterone you have the choice of the following itinerary:

A. Deruta  (the City of Ceramics) for a visit and demonstration at the Domiziani ceramic factory followed by a visit and tasting at Castello di Montevibiano winery.

B. Spello and Collepino  Visit the medieval village of Spello and enjoy a glass of wine from one of the its most prestigious wineshops, Enoteca Letteraria Vinosofia.  Continue on to a must-see stop at Villa Fidelia and a visit and tasting at the Frantoio di Spello olive oil mill.  From here, move on to the artisan brewery, La Birra dell’Eremo, (for artisan beer lovers) or  to Sportoletti winery.

C. Corciano and Solomeo  Corciano is an old medieval village just a few km from Perugia and considered to be among the most beautiful in Italy.  Solomeo is a factory-village owned by stylist and cashmere clothier, Brunello Cucinelli.  Enjoy a visit to the Carlo e Marco Carini farm where you can taste their excellent food and wine products.

D. Bettona and Torgiano  A stop in these two quaint villages includes a visit to Lungarotti, Umbria’s most important winery, along with its noteworthy Wine Museum, then continue to the Terre Margaritelli winery. Alternatively, visit award-winning olive oil mill Frantoio Decimi or organic Di Filippo farm.


Tour 2. Montefalco and Bevagna

Take a walk through these villages renowned as two of Italy’s most beautiful.  Visit the St. Francis Museum in Montefalco then enjoy a wine tasting either at the Antonelli San Marco or Arnaldo Caprai winery.

Lunch is at a typical, authentic tavern in Bevagna followed by a stroll in this lovely village. Visit Tenuta di Castelbuono, a work of art by architect Arnaldo Pomodoro.


Tour 3. Trevi, Fonti del Clitunno, Campello sul Clitunno

Walk the squares and alleyways of Trevi, the town known as the capital of DOP Umbrian olive oil.  After Trevi we’ll go to lunch near the Clitunno River then visit Castello di Poreta and enjoy a tasting there and at nearby olive oil mills.


Tour 4. Assisi, Spello, Foligno

Visit St. Francis’ Forest, a FAI site, then move on to the Saio farm and winery for a tour and tasting.  Lunch will be held at a farmhouse restaurant near Foligno afterwich the tour will continue for a visit of Palazzo Trinci and Sassovivo Abbey in Spello.


Tour 5. Giano dell’Umbria, The City of Oil

Visit the village and the San Felice Abbey then continue on to Moretti Omero for a tour and tasting of its products.  Have lunch at Monte Martano mountain refuge then visit nearby oil mills.  The tour concludes with a visit to the villages of Gualdo Cattaneo and Saragano.


Tour 6. Orvieto with Slow Food Lunch

Special mid-morning refreshment at the Historical Bar Cantine Foresi whose underground passages extend all the way to Piazza del Duomo. Visit to St. Patrick’s Well commissioned by Pope Clement VII in 1527.

Lunch at a Slow Food restaurant followed by a tour and tasting at Palazzone winery, recipient of the highest votes by Slow Wine Umbria.


Tour 7. Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoreggio

Special mid-morning refreshment at the Historical Bar Cantine Foresi whose underground passages extend all the way to Piazza del Duomo. Visit Custodi Winery for a tour and tasting lunch followed by a trip to the stunning village of Civita di Bagnoreggio, otherwise known as “The Town that’s Dying”.


Tour 8 Bevagna Cooking Class & Lunch

Set in a beautiful country house in Bevagna, hands-on cooking class in a private home. The Umbrian chef will teach guests how to prepare an authentic Umbrian 3-course meal using traditional Umbrian recipes and local fresh organic produce from the farm and surrounding area. Available from April to October from 10 am to 3pm.  Minimum 3 people. Lunch will be accompanied by some of the best local wines.


Tour 9.  Arboreal Archeology, Fruits and Marmalades

A leap into the past at the ‘Museo della Frutta’. Visitors will be taken to a place where they can find hundred-year-old plants and fruit trees that are well preserved by the Archeologia Arborea Foundation:  A one-of-a-kind experience. Isabella Dalla Ragione, founder, owner and professor, will take guests on a guided tour of the property after which there will be a detailed demonstration on how to make jams and marmalades from the fruits of these marvelous trees. Lunch will then be served accompanied by local fine wines. Available from April to October from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Minimum 3 people. Price includes a contribution to help maintain the Foundation.


Tour 10. Truffle Hunt & Lunch

Nestled in the mountains above Spoleto, guests can enjoy an easy walk with a truffle hunter and his trained dogs then sit down to a 4-course lunch, wine included, of truffles and fresh produce from the hunter’s farm! Time: 10 am to 3 pm (Mon-Fri only).


Tour 11. Perugia Tour with Wine & Cheese Classes

Learn about the importance and variety of some of Italy’s best wine-growing regions. Personalized two-hour long classes feature programs taught by a sommelier. Wine classes include an introduction to selected wines, grapes, history, processes and the territory. Guest will also have the opportunity to sample at least 5 fine Italian wines and 5 Italian cheeses. Specific vintages may be requested at an additional cost
