Day 3 Gondola Ride with Music – $56 per person

The highlight of visiting Venice is the classic Gondola ride. You’ll glide through Venice’s maze of canals taking in its history while enjoying the sounds of a serenade. The gondola holds six people and there will be a fleet for the group. One of gondolas will include an accordion and singer.

Day 4 Half Day Off the Beaten Path Venice Walking Tour – $59 per person

Enjoy a 2 hour tour of the back alley’s and hidden piazzas set among Venice’s many islands. The tour begins at Santa Maria Formosa, a church dating back to 1492, and the exceptional Santa Maria dei Miracoli, the marble church, a lasting example of early Venetian Renaissance. You’ll also visit the home of Venice’s most famous resident, Marco Polo. The tour concludes at the beautiful Rialto Bridge, which area is also a draw for its daily market.

Day 6 Uffizi Gallery Tour – $65 per person

Florence is the world’s largest repository of fine art. The Renaissance started in Florence, funded by the Medici family who at the time were the world’s most powerful and richest family. They used their power and wealth to fund artists and influence humanity toward the pursuit of the betterment of man, striving for beauty in art, architecture and literature. This guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery provides insight to the history of the collections. Originally the private collection of the Medici family, the palazzo was opened to the public in 1765. Your tour highlights exceptional examples of Florentine painting with an aim to help you better understand the works of masters including Giotto, Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci. ** Important: Please note that the Museum has a limited maximum capacity and therefore reserves the right to restrict admission. Day 7 Full Day Siena from Florence – $89 per person

Siena is often considered one of Tuscany’s most beautiful towns. Its circular piazza, Campo Square, is unique and home of the famous Palio horserace, which runs annually on July 2nd and August 16th, in celebration of the holy apparition and assumption of the Virgin Mary, patron saint of the city. The tour is about 6 hours and includes a visit to the piazza and its beautiful church St. Dominic’s.

Day 9 Piazzas of Rome – $44 per person

One of Rome’s great pleasures is strolling its cobblestone streets and taking in its beautiful public squares known as piazzas. On this tour you’ll spend 4 hours walking along Rome’s streets and piazzas. You’ll learn about the architects and artists that designed and built these fabulous public spaces. The tour includes many of Rome’s sightseeing highlights including the Spanish Steps, the longest and widest decorative steps in Europe, the Trevi Fountain where you’ll toss a coin in viritually guaranteeing your return trip to Rome, the Pantheon, which is the best preserved of any ancient Roman building dating back to the reign of Augustus and completed in 100 A.D. You’ll also visit Piazza Navona, which is arguably the most beautiful piazza in the world, where you’ll find two of Bernini’s famous sculptures, Fountain of the Four Rivers and The Moor. Along the way you’ll also pass various authentic Egyptian Obelisk brought to Rome 2000 years ago.

DAY 1 – Depart the USA

DAY 2 – Arrive in Venice

Arrive in Venice, the magical and mysterious city built over 400 islands. You’ll transfer to your hotel with is included when the tour is booked with air. The balance of the day is at leisure to get your walking legs. Late afternoon freshen up and then join the tour director and travelers for an evening celebration welcome to Italy dinner.

DAY 3 – Murano, St. Mark’s Sqaure and Doge’s Palace

Today begins with a boat ride to the Island of Murano, known throughout the world for its fine glass work industry. The Venice glass blowing artisans are known for their craftsmanship that spans hundreds of years. Then visit St. Mark’s Square to begin a guided walking tour of Venice. You’ll be escorted around magical Venice be a local guide,. who will explain to you the intricacies of Venice’s art history through its Byzantine, Venetian, and Roman architecture. You’ll see the Golden Basilica of San Marco. You’ll visit the Doge’s Palace where the Duke of Venice lived, and walk through the Bridge of Sighs where prisoners crossed on their way to jail. Take the remainder of the day to explore Venice on your own. You may also enjoy an optional Gondola Ride.

Day 4 – Venice Lagoon Islands Burano and Torcello

Today you’ll cruise across the Venice lagoon to the islands of Burano and Torcello. Burano is known for its fine lace. The charming island is full of colorful houses and artisan galleries. It’s bakeries are known for their Venetian pastries and restaurants delicious Venetian cuisine. After Burano the excursion continues to another island in Venice’s lagoon Torcello. While Burano is for lace, Torcello is for your soul. This peaceful island was the first to be inhabited by the peoples escaping the mainland around the year 450. Today’s main attraction is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, founded in 639. Much of its 11th and 12th century Byzantine work, including mosaics (e.g. a vivid version of the Last Judgement) are still intact and a sightseeing highlight. This afternoon enjoy leisure time or consider the optional half day off the beaten path Venice walking tour.

DAY 5 – Venice to Florence with Tuscan Cooking Class

This morning you’ll leave Venice, traveling across through the fertile Emilia Romagna region to the stunning panorama of Tuscany. Along the way you’ll stop in Tuscany to partake in a Tuscan cooking class. Tuscany is one of the world’s culinary capitals. You’ll learn how to roll out homemade pasta, and using fresh seasonal ingredients you’ll learn to prepare Tuscan bean soups and homemade sauces. Then you’ll enjoy eating your labor with a wine flowing over a relaxing lunch. Then the tour continues on to the Renaissance city of Florence, home of the world’s largest repository of fine art and architecture. Upon arrival check in to your hotel for three leisurely nights. After you have time to stroll along independently and enjoy an evening stroll and maybe a gelato.

DAY 6 – Florence City Tour

Today’s morning tour begins with a visit to the Accademia of Fine Arts, where Michelangelo’s David is housed. Continue to explore the open air art museum of Signoria Square ending at Ponte Vecchio, known as the “Old Bridge.” Enjoy the afternoon at leisure in Florence. This evening, dine in an authentic Tuscan restaurant in the countryside.

DAY 9 – Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel

Today begins with the visit to the Vatican Museums and Michelangelo’s breathtaking Sistine Chapel. The Vatican Museum is an enormous collection of art and one of the most important collections to Western Civilization. You’ll see the main highlights including the tapistrys, maps, and the Raphael rooms. The museum tour ends in the Sistine Chapel. Then you’ll enter St. Peter’s Basilica. Inside you’ll find where you will view Michelangelo’s Pieta. This highly-finished marble sculpture depicts the body of Jesus in the arms of Mary after the Crucifixion and is considered to be among the most compelling of all works of art in the Western world. You’ll also see some of Bernini’s finest works and sculptures. Bernini also designed the colonnade in St. Peter’s Square and is often called the architect of Baroque Rome. The Afternoon is at leisure. You may want to join an optional tour of Rome’s piazzas including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. This evening is also at leisure to enjoy Rome and indulge in some Roman cuisine.
