Venice Optional Tours
A Venetian Night Out Via The Grand Canal – $75
Travel by private water taxi along the splendid Grand Canal with its elegant palaces to a fine Venetian restaurant. Taste four mouth-watering courses of local specialties and wine or soft drinks. After dinner there is time to explore and absorb the unique, romantic atmosphere of Venice by night.
Gondola Serenade – $45
Enjoy a ride in a traditional gondola, gliding through centuries-old canals, under famous arched bridges, past lavish palaces and quaint piazzas. These long, narrow, flat-bottomed boats with a high prow and stern were designed specifically for the Venetian canals and made in unique shipyards called Squero. Black is the obligatory color, due to a law passed to reduce how the rich and noble over-decorated their personal craft. The comb at the front of the gondola is made of iron and serves not only to balance the boat, but is also the symbol of gondolas and Venice. The six comb teeth represent the six Venetian districtsi sestieri. Note: the gondola is to be shared with other guests (maximum 6 participants on each gondola). There will be one musician on board of one of the gondola boats in your fleet.
Lagoon Cruise and Meal in Burano – $75
Appreciate the peaceful vistas of the Lagoon while you glide past the islands of Santa Elena, San Michele and the famous Lido. Day 1 – Depart the United States
Depart the United States for Italy on an overnight flight. Submit the form for the Italy airfare price from your preferred departure airport.
Day 2 Arrive in Rome, Italy
Today you’ll arrive Rome after your overnight flight from the United States. Check in to your hotel. Then if you have time take a stroll around. This evening at 5PM you’ll meet your tour director and fellow travelers for dinner at a local Roman trattoria where you’ll enjoy your first authentic Italian dinner. Meals: Dinner
Day 3 Rome
Today you’ll enjoy a day sightseeing Rome’s highlights. First you’ll visit Vatican City. You’ll be joined by a local expert guide who will escort you through the Vatican Museum. This priceless collection of art provides unparalleled insight into the history of Western Civilization. After the Vatican Museum you’ll visit the Sistine Chapel where Michelangelo’s famous Last Judgement fresco adorns the ceiling. Then the tour continues to St Peter’s Basilica where you’ll see Michelangelo’s famous sculpture the Pietà. In addition to Michelangelo you’ll see the work by the architect of Baroque Rome Bernini. After Vatican City you’ll cross the Tiber River to visit Ancient Rome. There you’ll visit the Colosseum and the Ancient Roman Forum. After all this touring you’ll have the afternoon to stroll around Rome on your own. Day 4 Rome–Assisi–Venice
Today you’ll travel from Rome and the region of Lazio to the region of Umbria. Umbria is lesser known than Tuscany but as beautiful with its Medieval hill towns dotted among its green rolling hills. In Umbria you’ll visit Assisi, where the Basilica of St. Francis sits above the peaceful landscape. Here you’ll tour the beautiful Basilica where some of the greatest works art by Giotto adorn its walls. After learning about St. Francis and the Franciscan order that is devoted to the ideals of humanity, forgiveness, simplicity, and love for all God’s creatures the tour continues on the Venice.
Day 5 Venice
Today you’ll wake up in the magical city Venice. You’ll start the day with a private boat ride to St Mark’s Square. There you’ll meet a local expert Venice tour guide who will lead you through Venice’s sightseeing highlights. The tour includes St Mark’s Basilica, The Doge’s Palace, and the Bridge of Sights. You’ll also see Venetian artisans perform the art of glassblowing. After your tour of Venice you’ll have free time to stroll around Venice on your own. You may also join an option cruise to the island of Burano.
Day 6 Venice – Pisa – Florence
Today you’ll travel from Venice across Italy and through Tuscany to the beautiful town of Pisa. There you’ll have time to enjoy the Field of Miracles and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. After the tour continues to Florence. Upon arrival you’ll check-in to your hotel and then you have an evening on your own to enjoy Florence. You may also want to join the optional evening dinner with authentic Tuscan specialties.

Day 7 Florence
This morning you’ll enjoy a guided tour of Florence’s sightseeing highlights. The tour includes a visit to the Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David. The walking tour of Florence’s historic center includes visiting the Duomo with Bernini’s Dome, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery with it bronze doors designed by Ghiberti and dubbed “Gates of Paradise” by Michelangelo, and Signoria Square famous for the outdoor sculptures from the Renaissance period.
Day 8 Florence – Siena – Rome
Today you leave Florence traveling south through Tuscany to the beautiful Renaissance town Siena. in Siena you’ll enjoy a tour of its center the Piazza del Campo. After Siena you’ll return to Rome. This evening you’ll indulge in a celebration authentic Roman dinner.
